How It Works

This calculator is for FUN ONLY and has no scientific basis. The actual probability of having a boy or girl is roughly 50/50. Only medical tests (ultrasound after 18-20 weeks, NIPT blood test, or amniocentesis) can determine sex. This is NOT medical advice.

The Formula

Scoring based on folklore:
Chinese calendar (age + month parity), heart rate myth (>140 = girl), cravings, morning sickness severity

Variables

  • Chinese Calendar — Ancient folklore based on mother's age and conception month
  • Heart Rate — Myth: >140 bpm = girl (no scientific support)

Example

Age 28, conceived in June, 145 bpm heart rate, sweet cravings, moderate morning sickness = leans Girl (but it is just for fun!).

Tips

  • The ONLY reliable methods are ultrasound (18-20 weeks), NIPT blood test (10+ weeks), or amniocentesis
  • The actual sex ratio at birth is about 105 boys per 100 girls
  • Old wives' tales are fun but have zero predictive value
  • Some parents choose to wait until birth to find out -- the ultimate surprise!
